This Curiosity Collection extends the learning from the Fantasy Worlds: Exploring Imaginary Lands Curiosity Snapshot through a cross-curriculum exploration of fantasy worlds using English, Humanities, Science, Mathematics, Design and Technologies, The Arts, creativity, and inquiry.
Learners investigate what makes fantasy worlds feel believable, explore rulers, heroes, villains, and legendary characters, discover magical creatures and mythical beasts, examine magic, enchanted objects, myths, legends, and ancient prophecies, and investigate how habitats, ecosystems, and environments shape imaginary worlds. They also discover how authors, artists, filmmakers, and game designers use maps, measurement, coordinates, patterns, logic, and creative problem-solving to design rich fantasy worlds and engaging adventures.
Throughout the Collection, Wonder Seekers build their understanding of how imaginary worlds are carefully planned and connected. They explore fantasy maps, magical ecosystems, storytelling traditions, world-building techniques, puzzles, and mathematical thinking before bringing their discoveries together in a creative Design Your Own Fantasy World project.
Along the way, learners develop skills in observation, questioning, reading and interpreting texts, creative writing, geographical thinking, scientific observation, map reading, measurement, spatial reasoning, logical thinking, problem-solving, design thinking, communication, creativity, and imaginative world-building.
Each Collection is designed using inclusive learning principles, supporting diverse learning needs through self-paced exploration, clear instructions, flexible activity options, visual supports, and multiple ways for learners to engage, create, and reflect.
The program includes:
A Curiosity Collection includes multiple Wonder activities completed over several sessions.
Each activity introduces new ideas through exploration, investigation, and creative design, leading to a final project where Wonder Seekers combine what they have learned.
The Collection includes:
